Voting through the online competition, sponsored by UL Fire Safety Research Institute, ends at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15. The prize money will be designated for public education efforts.
The contest is designed to promote the idea of sleeping with bedroom doors closed to keep the heat and gases down in the event of a fire, and to create a survivable atmosphere for a longer period of time.
The Homewood video and a link to voting is at https://closeyourdoor.org/contest?contest=video-detail&video_id=31671.
“It won’t take you long to vote. The video is only 32 seconds,” said Megan Tipton of the fire department staff. She encourages those with Facebook pages to share the link to increase voting for the Homewood video.
