H-F coach Mark Thompson selected Illinois Lacrosse Person of the Year

Homewood-Flossmoor Park District commissioners unanimously agreed not to open Lions Pool for the summer season.

They called it “a difficult decision” but believe it’s the best decision for guest and staff safety and park operations.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
