Flossmoor police officers will meet the public at the annual “Coffee with a Cop” event on July 19.
“Coffee with a Cop” is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Starbucks, 3760 Vollmer Road.
Acting Police Chief Tod Kamleiter said he will be on hand with three or four other officers. It will be the third annual “Coffee with a Cop,” which the department started as an outreach program that allows residents to meet officers in an informal setting, and to discuss local law enforcement issues.
Kamleiter said the program has resulted in a respectable turnout of the public in the past two years.
“This is an excellent opportunity for members of our department to interact with members of the community,” he said. “We are open to discussions on many topics, and this type of forum allows that exchange. We are always looking for opportunities to have positive interactions with members of the resident population.”
Flossmoor’s Starbucks has provided “tremendous support” to the police department since its opening two years ago, Kamleiter said.
“We look forward to a long tradition of partnering with them for future opportunities,” he said.
