GSU shares its PPE. Governors State University President Elaine Maimon reported: Two days after Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued his appeal, GSU’s College of Health and Human Services, led by Dean Catherine Balthazar, donated 3,000 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Illinois Emergency Management Fund.

Census gathering via Google. To promote the U.S. Census, the Homewood Science Center is hosting a Google Hangout at 2 p.m on Wednesday, April 1, and announcing rules for its #Silly4Census Photo Contest. Details are at homewoodsciencecenter.org.

Learn a language while at home. The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is offering classes in the Spanish language for kids and adults using Zoom. Lessons for children Thursdays, April 9 through 30, are 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. for 3- to 6-year-olds and 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. for 7- to 11-year-olds. Adults over 18 can enroll in classes offered Tuesdays, April 7 through 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. Registrations are $48 for residents and $60 for non-residents. The instructor for these programs is from Language in Action Inc.
