A 48-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the abuse and abandonment of a dog found in Willow Springs, according to Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.

On Feb. 17 an emaciated and severely dehydrated male pit bull mix was found in a garbage bag on the side of the road in Willow Springs.   • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
