Community criticizes H-F students in blackface

I'm afraid I drop the ball with regrettable regularity. The best thing to do, of course, is to pick the ball back up and keep running. 

One recent drop, picked up herewith, was one of the many laudable service projects done as part of this year's MLK Day of Service. 

Share a Pair was a shoe drive spearheaded by Jack Prokop, Alex Barrera and Jane Bachus, all students at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
