Jan Doran stopped by Homewood village hall on Saturday, Feb. 8, with two heart-shaped boxes of chocolate that she presented to Mayor Richard Hofeld with a request that he share the treats with village staff.
Doran who has lived in Homewood for 48 years, said she has been giving Valentine’s Day treats to village staffers for several years as a token of appreciation for all they do for residents.
“I know these people work very hard,” she said. “They keep Homewood looking good.”
She said staff probably hears more complaints than thanks most of the time. She wanted to let them know they are very much appreciated, too.
“People when they’re happy and appreciative don’t always express it, so I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to be reversing that trend,'” she said.
