Homewood trustees to consider fee changes

Homewood trustees will consider a number of proposed fee changes at their regular meeting Tuesday, in addition to holding a public hearing for the 2019-2020 budget.

Among the fee changes would be an increase for ambulance service fees. For residents, the basic life support rate would increase from $800 to $1,100, and the advanced life support rate would increase from $950 to $1,300. Rates are about 18 percent higher for non-residents. Costs are generally covered by insurance.

Also under consideration are increases to tobacco sales licenses and liquor licenses.

The board will also consider an ordinance adopting the proposed budget. When the budget was introduced at the March 26 meeting it included a projected surplus of more than $552,000. With some adjustments since then, the surplus has been reduced to about $538,750.

In other business, the board will consider:

  • Annual reports from the Appearance Commission, Community Relations Committee, Foreign Fire Tax Insurance Board, Rail Committee,  Senior Advisory Committee and Veterans Committee.
  • An ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus village property.
  • An ordinance changing the meeting time of regular board meetings from 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • A resolution authorizing an additional $60,000 of Motor Fuel Tax money for the 2019 street resurfacing program.
  • A bid award for the summer resurfacing program in the amount of $373,508.
  • A resolution authorizing a forgiveable loan agreement with Vice District Brewing.
  • A bid award for a new plow truck.
  • A bid award for custodial services.
  • Renewal of a contract for mowing, bush trimming, debris removal and weed abatement.
The board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road.
