Ride for free on Metra this weekend

I attended a conference in October hosted by LION, which stands for Local Independent Online Newspapers. About 260 publishers of small news organizations from around the country gathered to talk about how to make local newspapers work in a new world. Probably the most encouraging thing I learned: We are not alone.The Chronicle started in June 2014, and from a showing of hands at the conference it appeared most of the publications represented were roughly the same age.   • Pride Party at the Flossmoor Community Church Community House, 847 Hutchison Road in Flossmoor. The family-friendly event will have food, music and other entertainment from 5 to 8 p.m.
