Voters Guide: Homewood Public Library District

Flossmoor parents, teachers, administrators and school board members gathered Monday for the District 161 Diversity Dinner and explored topics dealing with diversity, equity and inclusion. The group of about 30 divided into groups and got acquainted with one another over pizza before delving into guided questions about diversity and sharing personal experiences. Superintendent Dana Smith asked the groups to write down talking points, questions or ideas at the end of their discussions.   • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
