Drama Group’s ‘Raisin’ tells South Side story, starting Feb. 15

A package that caused concern at the CN Railroad facility in Homewood had been deemed harmless, and a CN spokesman called the incident a “false alarm.”

At about 9 a.m. Thursday, Homewood Police and Fire Department personnel responded to a caller reporting a suspicious package at the facility at 17641 Ashland Ave., according to a police department press release.

Homewood police and CN’s own police officers evacuated the CN offices and surrounding buildings as a precautionary measure.

  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
