Marc Wiley, chair of the board of trustees at Prairie State College Board, was elected as a member of the Association of Community College Trustees Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, representing the Central Region.

Wiley was sworn in during the 50th Annual ACCT Leadership Congress in October. 
 

The committee is tasked with “ensur(ing) leadership for the involvement of historically underrepresented diverse populations within the governance activities of ACCT.”
 
According to the ACCT, the committee “promotes respect for and acceptance of diverse  individuals and promotes awareness and educational opportunity for underrepresented populations. It advises the ACCT Board by strengthening the links with the minority membership, identifying issues that require member input, and recommending strategies to gather input.”
 
A resident of Chicago Heights, Wiley was elected to the Prairie State College Board of Trustees in April 2011, reelected in 2017 and named chair this year. He worked for the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department for more than 20 years.
 
Wiley has an associate degree from Triton College and a bachelor’s degree from Lewis University. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Harvey Brooks Foundation, a former member of the South Suburban Council for Alcohol and Substance Abuse and a community activist for at-risk youth. He also is a member of the Scottish Rite Freemasonry.
