Cook County offers two tax exemptions for seniors

The Parker Junior High School cross country program posted some of the best results it has ever achieved earlier this month at the state meet in Normal.

The boys team placed third and the girls 15th in Class 3A. It’s the best finish ever for the boys and the second best posting for the girls team, which finished 13th a year ago.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
