Tuesday seminar focuses on easy steps to keep neighborhoods safe

  The Homewood-Flossmoor High School volleyball   team, which is headed for the playoffs.  The girls volleyball team at Homewood-Flossmoor High School is moving into IHSA playoffs Oct. 28 with an outstanding 24-5 record. Last year, the team total was 23-12, so coach Tony Kruse sees his team “ahead of the pace.” The team was heavy with juniors last year. Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
