“That’s Amore!” will give guests a quick trip to Italy on Saturday, Jan. 19, when Homewood-Flossmoor High School students and their supporters serve up the food and music of Italy for the annual auction.

The evening event from 6:30 to 10 p.m. is the annual fundraiser for music students traveling internationally for spring break performances. This year the Master Singers, members of the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Viking Choir, will be traveling to Italy under the direction of teacher Michael Rugen. This will be the 10th trip Rugen has planned as the music director.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.  Guests will enjoy a salad, spinach fettucine, penne rigate, chicken breast, beef meatballs and a dessert bar. The H-F Choral Parents Association is hosting this event in the South Building gym.

Guests can bid on live and silent auctions, as well as a gift card marketplace. All donations will help underwrite the cost of transporting and housing 65 students on their spring trip with stops in Milan, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Siena, Verona, Como and other stops.

Students will be performing at the world-famous La Scala Opera House, the Great Synagogue of Florence, and in the liturgy during Mass at the Duomo of Milan, Santa Croce Chapel and in the San Marco Basilica, as well as visiting museums and other important landmarks.

The H-F Fine and Performing Arts Council and Foundation (H-F FPAC), a 501(c)3 organization run by parents and volunteers, is the funding arm for this trip. Students have been raising funds the past several months.

For additional information, or to purchase tickets, contact the parents association at [email protected].

The ongoing Queen of Hearts raffle is also benefitting the Master Singers trip. Tickets are $5 for six chances and can be purchased at Wiley’s Grill at Coyote Run Golf Course, 800 Kedzie Ave. The weekly drawing is Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. The pot is now over $22,000.
