Improvements OK’d on H-F’s North Building

St. Paul Community Church, 18200 Dixie Highway in Homewood, invites performers or those wishing to try out an act, to Open Mic Night on Friday, Oct. 19.Musicians, poets and entertainers of all kind are invited to The Basement Listening Room at the church. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and performances are set to begin at 7 p.m.This is a family-friendly program. There is no cover charge. Concessions will be available. Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
