Now’s your chance to compete for a free car. Chevrolet of Homewood is again giving away a vehicle to a family or a person in need, and now is the time to submit nominations for deserving recipients.
Anyone can enter the running for a free car by answering the question, “Why should you win a 2018 Chevrolet Sonic?” in 200 word or less.
People can submit their stories for themselves or for someone they know. Nominations will be accepted until 11:59:59 on Dec. 17.
Visit the Homewood Chevy Cares website for details about the contest rules and to submit a nomination.
Steve Phillipos, president of the dealership, started the project in 2015. In the three annual giveaways, recipients have included two families with a child suffering from cancer and a homeless woman.
“A new car can bring a sense of security and also much pleasure to someone,” he told the Chronicle during the nomination period last year.
After the nomination period ends, Homewood Chevy staff and Homewood officials will then select three finalists. Finalists will be notified by Dec. 19. Each will be invited to submit a three-minute video explaining how winning a new car will change their life.
Current entries can be read at the Homewood Chevy Cares website.
Andrea Malachowski, spokeswoman for the project, said the contest is easy to participate in.
“No purchase necessary, no need to be a previous customer of ours, and no credit check,” she said. “This program was created specifically to give back to our community without getting anything in return.”
The car will be presented to the winner on Dec. 24 at Chevrolet of Homewood, 18033 S. Halsted St. in Homewood.
