Colette Scheffers of Flossmoor had an outstanding season as a leading volleyball player for Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.
Scheffers
Scheffers led the Trinity team offensively with 2.80 kills per set. A kill is an attack by a player that is not returnable by the receiving player on the opposing team. It typically leads directly to a point or loss of rally. She recorded a career high 21 kills in her college debut against Eastern Connecticut College. As a sophomore, Scheffers led her team in kills.
The Trinity team qualified for the eight-team New England Small College Athletic Conference play in early November but failed to advance.
Scheffers, daughter of Todd and Cathy Scheffers, is a graduate of Marian Catholic High School.
