The village of Homewood has a deal for motorists who travel through three intersections in town. Heed a sign and save money.Last week the village installed five signs that read, "Complete Stop FREE/Rolling Stop $164.00/Your Choice."Anyone who stops long enough to read the sign probably has complied with the requirements of the stop sign just above it. Mayor Richard . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
