Ribbon-cutting marks Dunning’s move to downtown Flossmoor

After 60 years as a purveyor of meats and deli items, Dunning’s Market has a new home.

Dunning’s celebrated its move to Flossmoor this fall with a Nov. 6 ribbon-cutting and grand reopening at its new location, 1050 Sterling Avenue.

Owner Maureen Mader welcomed several village officials and well-wishers and thanked her staff for making the move from the previous store in Homewood a smooth transition.

Mayor Paul Braun said Dunning’s has been an integral part of the H-F community since 1958 and that it is now an excellent fit in Flossmoor’s downtown business district.

“Thank you for investing in Flossmoor,” Braun said to Mader.

There’s a new green awning at Dunning’s but that’s not the only addition to the store.

Late last month, Dunning’s started serving coffee and breakfast items for early morning Metra commuters. It opens at 6:30 Monday through Friday.

Mader told the H-F Chronicle that the new store does not have a meat counter. Patrons can still order meat at the store, she said.

There’s a staff of nine at Dunning’s, most of whom are new to the new store. Mayer said she is very pleased that her head chef and cook made the move from the Homewood location.

Mader said the store’s Supper Club is a popular option that lets patrons pick up all the ingredients for dinner.

“We do all the prep work,” she said. Dinners come with instructions and all the ingredients and are designed to be cooked in 45 minutes or less, or in a slow cooker.

More information about Dunning’s and Supper Club is available at the store’s website.

Hours at Dunning’s are 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
