Nov. 15 is new opening date for Cook County forest preserves permits

Donohue, vice president of philanthropy at the Ingalls Development Foundation, takes over as president of the organization established in 1936. Today there are 38 members, one of the largest clubs in Rotary’s District 6450 that extends from Chicago south to Kankakee.

 The club is hosting its charity golf outing Aug. 19 at Glenwoodie Golf Course in Glenwood. Information is available from Paul Styles at [email protected] The organization’s motto – Service Above Self . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
