John Farrell is proud of H-F and its accomplishments as he steps down from board

For the third straight year, Lighthouse LGBTQ+ is sponsoring a party celebrating Pride in the H-F community, an event that has drawn many hundreds from the surrounding south suburban area.   Patrons at Homewood's June 26  evening farmers market enjoy  sunny skies and rainbow  banners put up in preparation  for the Lighthouse Pride Party  on Friday, June 28. The Pride   event will take place on Martin   Square, the same place the   village holds the farmers   market.  . . .

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
