H-F High hosts breakfast program for seniors Oct. 10

Barriers were placed along the side of Dixie Highway at the intersection with 175th Street this week in preparation for the closure of a short section of Dixie Highway on May 20.The road soon will be closed from 175th Street north to 174th Street while crews replace a culvert, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.The nearly $400,000 project is expected to be finished by July 5.IDOT officials urged motorist to find alternative routes, to expect delays and use caution when workers are present if they must travel near the construction area.A signed detour . . .

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
