Law enforcement officials are investigating an incident Tuesday morning in which a pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metra Electric train at the Homewood station.
It was the second fatality at the Homewood stop this summer. Another pedestrian was killed on July 17.
Officers from Metra, the Homewood Police Department and the Illinois State Police were on scene after the incident.
The person was struck by train No. 706, which left University Park at 7:25 a.m. and was not scheduled to stop at Homewood, according to Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile.
Trains were stopped for some time, but by 9 a.m. some trains were operating again, though at restricted speeds.
