According to Chief Michael Pulec, the Flossmoor Police Department received several reports of a vehicle driving erratically in the 800 block of Braemar Road at about 12:20 p.m. on April 15.
Responding officers observed the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and refusing to stop. The driver attempted to elude officers but lost control of the vehicle, striking a telephone pole at Flossmoor Road and Leavitt Avenue.
At that point, the two occupants fled the vehicle eastbound on foot toward downtown Flossmoor, police said.
The first suspect was observed running southbound along the railroad tracks before climbing into a freight train traveling southbound.
The second suspect was seen running in Flossmoor Park and was subsequently taken into custody without incident near the Metra tunnel.
Shortly afterward, the first suspect was apprehended in Olympia Fields after CN stopped all trains at the request of police.
