Homewood Dairy Queen crash driver dies

The driver of an SUV that in the early morning of July 17 crashed into a Dairy Queen at the corner of Ridge Road and Gladville Avenue in Homewood died Wednesday, according to a police statement.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office notified Homewood police that 27-year-old Demarques Heard, of Hazel Crest, died from his injuries, according to the release.

Heard was the driver of the Ford Expedition. A passenger in the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the hospital and released.
