Anyone in the neighborhood of Churchill School, 1300 W. 190th St. in Homewood, on Thursday, July 26, might see significant police activity, but it will be part of a police department critical incident drill.
The exercise is set to begin about 8 a.m. and will conclude about noon, according to Deputy Chief Denise McGrath.
“Homewood police units will respond to a staged incident with assistance from neighboring law enforcement agencies,” she said. “The drill focuses on coordinating response and communication between Homewood departments as well as with other south suburban emergency units.”
The Homewood Fire Department, Public Works Department and volunteer role players will also participate in the drill.
Critical incident drills in the past have involved preparing for active shooter situations. Drills have been held at several Homewood locations in recent years. The drill was last conducted at Churchill School in 2014.
