Vice District Brewing nearing opening in Homewood

On Saturday, March 9, area residents who have difficulty affording dental care will have an opportunity for a free visit to the dentist. Southland Smiles, 19815 Governors Highway in Flossmoor, in partnership with non-profit organization Dentistry from the Heart, will offer teeth cleanings, fillings and other treatments.This will be the seventh time Dr. Richard Mantoan and his staff have offered the program. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and Mantoan and his volunteers will see patients from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Patients will receive treatment on a first-come first-served basis . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
