Recycling revamp: Taking a fresh look at a maturing environmental practice

Homewood will sell a portion of the village hall parking lot for the development of town homes after the village board approved the measure at its Dec. 11 board meeting.  As Homewood trustees plan   to sell the village hall parking  lot for development, they  have commissioned a study  to gauge the impact of losing   119 parking spaces.   (Eric Crump/H-F Chronicle)

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
