A 19-year-old man was apprehended and remains in the custody of the Cook County Sheriff after a Dec. 5 incident when he forcibly entered his girlfriend’s Homewood home and forced her to go with him.

Curtis J. Berg, of Phoenix, Ill., was found the same day in Chicago and arrested, according to Homewood police.

According to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office, Berg is charged with felony offenses of home invasion, kidnapping and two counts of armed robbery, for taking residents’ cell phones.

On Dec. 7, a judge set bail at $200,000 and ordered Berg to have no contact with the victim in this case, according to the state’s attorney.  The case was continued to Jan. 3, 2019.

It was around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 when Berg allegedly forced his way into a residence in the 18200 block of Dolphin Lake Drive. His girlfriend, also 19, was inside, along with other residents.

He displayed some kind of weapon to them and made his girlfriend go with him involuntarily, taking the phones.

Berg allegedly released the victim shortly thereafter, and she made her way back home.
