Aaron Carlin resigned his post as director of the Flossmoor Public Library last week.
Library Board President Anne Thiros on Tuesday, May 1, confirmed that Carlin had resigned and that he was no longer at the library.
Thiros told the H-F Chronicle that “Aaron and the library board had different visions for the library.” She declined to elaborate on those differences.
“The library board and staff wish Aaron the best in his future endeavors,” Thiros said.
Kathy Parker has been named interim director while the search for a permanent replacement takes place, she said.
“We are in the process of taking steps to hire a new director,” Thiros said. “We don’t have a target date, but will begin those steps at our next meeting.” The library may use a recruiter or post the opening on library job forums, she said.
The next board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 8 at the library, 1000 Sterling Ave. in Flossmoor. Board meetings are open to the public.
Carlin took over as director in March of 2017. Before coming to Flossmoor, Carlin had been manager of the Randall Oaks branch in West Dundee, part of the Fox River Valley Library District.
