Police are seeking information on the theft of a cell phone from a commuter early Wednesday at the Flossmoor Metra station.

According to Flossmoor police, the incident took place at approximately 5:55 a.m. on Nov. 28. Police responded to reports of a cell phone theft on the Metra platform. The suspect was identified by witnesses as an African-American male in his mid-teens wearing a red hooded Nike sweatshirt and black sweatpants, according to an online alert from the Flossmoor Police Department.

While on the platform, the suspect grabbed the cell phone of a commuter and fled on foot northbound on Sterling Avenue. There was no indication that a weapon was used during the incident, police said.

Because the incident took place on the commuter train platform, the Metra Police Department is leading the investigation, with assistance from Flossmoor.  Metra is currently attempting to obtain video of the incident and additional information will be shared when it becomes available.

Anyone with additional information about the incident or with knowledge of the suspect should contact the Metra police at 312-322-6513.
