Foundation 153 helps purchase 90 devices for students

Homewood and company officials cut the ribbon Tuesday, Nov. 6, to mark the official opening of Freddie's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers at 17601 Halsted St. in Homewood. Helping Mayor Richard Hofeld preside over the ceremony, in the beige shirt, is Ben Simon, vice president of operation's for Freddie's. He is the son of Freddy’s co-owner Randy Simon and grandson of the company’s namesake, according to Homewood Events Manager Allisa Opyd.

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Homewood 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, then follows Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
  • Flossmoor 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High and ends downtown, where there will be fun activities.
