As costs rise, Flossmoor OKs slight increase in water rate

St. Joseph Church in Homewood will be the site for a Public Square Rosary Rally Oct. 13 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Virgin Mary’s appearance to three children in Fatima, Portugal. The event will be one of an expected 20,000 prayer services throughout the country. The rosary will be said at noon on the grounds of the church, 17951 Dixie Highway in Homewood.   • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
