South Suburban Family Shelter will hold a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, to mark the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The gathering will be at the Irwin Park Bandshell, 18120 Highland Ave. in Homewood. The event will include music, survivor testimonies and an exhibit of T-shirts with art created by survivors of domestic abuse.
