Man found dead after Flossmoor fire was dentist’s widower

The person found dead at the scene of a Flossmoor fire has been identified as Krzysztof A. Kasinski, 78. Kasinski was the owner of the home at 2010 Collett Lane that was gutted by fire on Feb. 28.

Cook County Medical Examiner spokeswoman Becky Schlikerman confirmed Kasinski’s identity after a long process of trying to locate his next-of-kin. It’s believed he had no next-of-kin in the United States.

Schlikerman said an autopsy was conducted of Kasinski’s body, which was discovered on the home’s first floor. However, the manner and cause of his death is still being investigated.

Firefighters arrived at the home just before 1 p.m. to find it engulfed in flames. It took about an hour and assistance from several departments to get the blaze under control.

Kasinski was the husband of the late Dr. Agnes Dziarski, a dentist who died in 2012. Dziarski practiced dentistry from an office on the first floor of the home.

Flossmoor Deputy Fire Chief Matt Berk said the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s office and the Flossmoor Police and Fire departments.
