GSU Dance Company Brings the Big Screen to Life

Governors State University students will present their annual dance festival at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8, with performances inspired by the big screen. The performance will be at the Center for Performing Arts at GSU.
The program, “Dance to the Movies,” is directed by Megan Lindsay who also choreographed the show. The program is produced by GSU’s Theatre and Performance Studies program.
“The show features a wide range of dances inspired by a variety of movie genres: comedy, musical, drama, action, suspense, Disney and dance films such as ‘Drumline’ and ‘Flashdance.’ It is quite a dynamic range of choreography inspired by movies made between 1933 and 2016,” Lindsay said.

The dancers also will re-stage the “Cell Bock Tango” number from the movie “Chicago.”

The performance is open to the public. Tickets are $15 for the public and $10 for students with valid I.D. at the box office. Contact the box office at or call 708-235-2222.
