‘Vote No’ home rule forum March 4

Kyle Scheffers of Flossmoor won numerous honors as co-captain of the Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, during his senior year. An alumnus of Marian Catholic High School, Scheffers graduated from Trinity in May with a degree in economics. He is the son of Cathy and Todd Scheffers. Scheffers’s strong academic record placed him on the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team. He also was named to the 2018 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Spring All-Academic Team, and represented Trinity men's tennis on the 2018 NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.   . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
