The Center for Dental Excellence received the 2017 Small Business of the Year Award at the 16th Annual Summit Awards Breakfast sponsored by the South Suburban Small Business Association.

The Flossmoor business was one of five organizations honored at the Idlewild Country Club event Feb. 7 attended by more than 100 business and civic leaders.

“This award recognizes a business’s management ability, continued growth, innovation of their product or service and contribution to the community or others,” said Nancy Burrows of the Business & Career Institute at South Suburban College, who was the program’s facilitator.

“The two doctors who founded this business in Flossmoor, Dr. Charles J. Greenebaum and Dr. Cary Goldberg, have excellent credentials, far and above what is expected in dentistry. When you visit their office, they see the problem and they fix it,” she told the audience.

“It is a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where they treat you like friends and family. It is a happy place and they often have parties for their staff and patients. They also generously give forward. They support 40 charitable organizations throughout the community, participating in fundraisers and support walks,” said Burrows.

Presenting the award to Greenebaum and  Goldberg was Caprice O’Bryant, of Excuse Free Fitness, who won last year’s Small Business Award.

O’Bryant began her comments with the statement: “If you suffer from odentaphobia, which means you are afraid of going to the dentist, the Center for Dental Excellence is the place for you. You will quickly recover from your phobia when you experience the kindness and friendliness of the doctors and staff at the CDE.”

Celebrating the award with the CDE were a number of long-time patients.

“When I am at the CDE, it is like seeing an old friend,” said Ron Bean, a Governors State University professor and board chairman of the Cook County CEDA.

Rev. Gloria J. Randolph, of GGG Ministries Services,  a patient of Greenebaum’s for 29 years, said, “For me it is the personal treatment I receive and the professionalism of the entire staff. I feel like it is a partnership with Dr. Greenebaum. He is a friend.”

Rev. Diane Fields, of Clear II Inc., a patient of Greenebaum’s for more than 35 years, considers him a true friend who “always treated me with respect. The atmosphere of the office is always welcoming.”

Greenebaum said he and Goldberg had worked with their fathers, who were dentists.

“We grew up here, have raised our families here and in 1999 we went into a partnership and opened the Center for Dental Excellence in Flossmoor. It is the culture of our team to treat our patients with respect and we do everything we can to make them comfortable.

“In today’s world, with all the social media and shopping online, people are thirsting for real relationships and we strive to make them feel like family. We want the experience of coming to our office to feel like you are coming home,” he said.
