Drama Group premieres ‘Whiskey Neat’ in January

The Drama Group opens 2018 with an original work, “Whiskey Neat.”

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 and 2 p.m. Jan. 14 and 21 at the Drama Group’s Milord Theater, 330 W. 202nd Street in Chicago Heights.

Created by Paul Milord, this action drama is placed in the back room of an illegal gambling club run by an Irish Mob. Milord says the play explores conflicts between people in the shadowy gambling world of the 1940s and showcases what makes people tick.

Harry is the unassuming accountant working for the boss, Beverly. Secretly Beverly pines for Harry. The two gunmen are Roy and Ed – one a funny, bored drinker and ersatz bank guard, the other an enforcer/bouncer. Izzi is the blunt, malignant floor manager, and Trudy is the cocktail waitress who can’t stand her job.

Add to the mix Mike, the nephew of Beverly the boss. He stirs up a hornet’s nest of emotion, confrontation and violence as he pursues Trudy and forces Beverly to confront her past.

Milord teams up with Deb Brunette to produce and direct this show.

Tickets are $20 for adults; $19 for seniors and $15 for students with ID. Group discount rates are available. For tickets, contact the box office at 708-755-3444 or visit https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3118675.
