New hires and promotions recognized at Homewood trustees meeting Tuesday

A Harvey man is facing several charges after allegedly breaking into United Liquors at 17532 Dixie Highway in Homewood on April 4. According to police, Orlando Murray, 29, of the 100 block of E. 155th St., entered the story shortly before 8 a.m. and left with alcoholic beverages, cigars and cigarettes. When police stopped the vehicle Murray was driving, he fled on foot. He was soon apprehended and was placed under arrest without incident. Monday, July 4

  • Homewood 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, then follows Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
  • Flossmoor 4th of July parade. Starts at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High and ends downtown, where there will be fun activities.
