Nutcracker ballet to be presented at GSU’s Center for Performing Arts

The classic Christmas ballet “The Nutcracker” will be performed by the Salt Creek Ballet at the Governors State University Center for Performing Arts at 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. 

Families can enjoy a Sugar Plum Party at 3 p.m. where they can take pictures with Santa, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies and enter to win prizes.
 
Among the cast of 89 dancers are internationally recognized guest dancers Vilia Putrius and Mindaugas Bauzys from Festival Ballet Providence. They trained at Vilnius Ballet School and joined the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre as principal dancers.
 
The performances are supported by First Midwest Bank and The Illinois Arts Council.
 
Tickets are $43, $36 and $28 for adults; $25 for seniors 65 and older; and $18 for children 16 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at the box office or ordered online at CenterTickets.net. For additional information, contact the center staff at 708-235-2222.
