South Suburban Family Shelter seeks donations for Adopt-A-Family holiday program

South Suburban Family Shelter is looking for individuals, families or businesses interested in participating in its annual Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program for victims of domestic violence and their children during the holiday season. 
 
The Adopt-A-Family program benefits those experiencing financial hardship as a result of their family circumstances. 
 
“They would likely have nothing for the holidays without the help of generous donors,” said Vicki Meilach, community outreach coordinator. Sponsoring a family’s needs, or making a monetary or gift card donations are welcome, she said.
 
Donors purchase and wrap gifts for their adopted family. Food is also needed including turkeys, chickens and non-perishable items for holiday meals. Contact [email protected] for specific food items needed.
 
Donations can be sent to Adopt-A-Family, c/o South Suburban Family Shelter, P.O. Box 937, Homewood, IL  60430.
 
South Suburban Family Shelter is a not-for-profit agency providing comprehensive services for families who experience domestic violence, including a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, counseling for adult victims and their children, abuser intervention, court and medical advocacy, and a prevention program. 
 
All victim services are provided free of charge and all programs are available in English and Spanish.
