Musical ‘Eating Raoul’ presented in November by The Drama Group

The Drama Group presents a zany Broadway musical “Eating Raoul” filled with lively intrigue and laughs as the plot thickens.

The show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18, or 2 p.m. Nov. 12, 18 and 19, at the Milord Studio Theater, 330 W. 202nd St. in Chicago Heights.

The musical is based on a film that today is a cult classic. It features the Blands. Their dream is to open a restaurant, but they need cash. They decide to lure weirdos to their apartment to rob and kill them. While they meet financial success, getting rid of the bodies is a problem.

Their building superintendent, Raoul, offers to dispose of the bodies, but he wants a cut, and he intends to seduce Mary Bland. The partnership runs amok, and Mary must decide if she will spend her life with Raoul or another man. Her decision also could mean the end of the dream for a restaurant.

Geoff Purvis of Homewood is a cast member. Russ Hoganson of Homewood is handling scenic design and Bob Sullivan is a crew member.

Tickets are $21 for adults; $20 for seniors and $15 for students with ID. Group discount rates are available.

The Drama Group is accepting canned goods and nonperishable food items during the “Eating Raoul” performance run. Donations will be given to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.  On Thursday, Nov. 16, or at the 2 p.m. performance Nov. 18, donations will get donors $5 off the ticket price.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office, or by calling 708-755-3444. Online ticket sales are at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3083133.  The Drama Group website is www.dramagroup.org.
