Veterans can get free dental services on Nov. 11

Two Flossmoor dental practices are taking part in this year’s statewide Veterans Day dentistry program.

On Nov. 11, veterans can receive free dental treatment at the Southland Smiles and the Center for Dental Excellence.

The program is sponsored by the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS) to show appreciation to veterans across the state.

Illinois veterans are eligible to receive a complimentary dental exam at participating practices. Treatments will be provided free of charge.

Interested veterans can visit www.illinoisdentistssalute.org to register through Nov. 1. Veterans will be required to enter their name, address, contact information, any medical concerns and medications they are taking.

According to ISDS, veterans are able to choose one treatment they wish to receive: cleaning, filling or extraction, with the dentist determining priority treatment.

More information is available at 708-222-7141 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The event has touched the hearts of staff at both dental practices.

“We have been a big supporter of our local community for many years and are always looking for ways to give back,” said Dr. Richard Mantoan, owner of Southland Smiles. “When we were contacted with the opportunity to volunteer and help our local veterans, it was a no brainer. This will be our first year working with this specific organization, and we were excited to be chosen.”

Staff at the Center for Dental Excellence said they were glad to donate their time and talents that day for several reasons.

“Having area veterans walk through our doors on Nov. 11 will be an awesome experience,” Lori Schroeder said. “It is an opportunity to show how immensely grateful we are for the sacrifice they have made for our country.”

Britni Taliano echoed the thought.

“The men and women who fought for our country deserve free, quality dental work, and so much more,” she said. “It’s a small gesture to show such bountiful appreciation to them.”
