Rail safety messages come to downtown Homewood

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District’s Coyote Run Golf Course in Flossmoor had its longest season on record — 310 days. Dave Ward, superintendent of golf, reported to the park board that the unseasonably mild winter allowed the park district to open the course Feb. 17, 2017, the earliest opening day in its history. The season, that officially closed Dec. 24, was the longest golf season at the course.During the 2017 season the course recorded 31,793 rounds played, the second highest record for the course. The 2017 golf season numbers also helped Coyote Run mark the third year . . .

FRIDAY, DEC. 2

  • Holiday Lights in Homewood, 5 to 9 p.m., Ridge Road and Martin Avenue downtown. Shopping, carousel, mulled wine, cookies, ice sculpture, music, antique car parade.
  • Tree-lighting ceremony with Santa Claus, 7 p.m., Irwin Park.

SATURDAY, DEC. 3

  • Janet Gustafson’s gingerbread village tours, 3 to 6 p.m. Register at flossmoor.org.
