Flossmoor board grants independent status to Green Committee

Homewood-Flossmoor High School was represented by members of the Viking Orchestra and by the Viking Jazz Ensemble at the Illinois Music Education Conference and All-State Festival Jan. 24 through 27 in Peoria. Viking Orchestra members violinist Allie Mangel, a senior, and violist Perry Hoag, a junior, were selected from the more than 12,000 student musicians who auditioned for a spot at the All-State Festival. Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
