Sick, injured animals will benefit from success of ‘Pets on Parade’ art auction

The South Suburban Diversity Dinners organization invites interested residents to a Feb. 3 planning meeting for the 21st annual event. The breakfast meeting is from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Rich South High School, 5000 Sauk Trail in Richton Park. The focus of this year’s April 21 dinner will be “State of Diversity in the South Suburbs.” Organizers are looking for persons interested in learning how to lead discussions around that topic. The Diversity Dinners are a yearly event designed to bring people of different races, religions, ethnicities, lifestyles and ages together to . . .

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
