Homewood’s 23 Miles South sets auditions for holiday play

Homewood’s new theater company, 23 Miles South, is hosting auditions from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25 and 26, at St. Paul Community Church for its holiday production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” Roles are available for six women, four men and several children, as well as a piano player. Persons auditioning are asked to prepare a monologue or read from the script.   • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
