IJP’s annual Block Party Fundraiser is Sept. 23

The Infant Jesus of Prague Parish in Flossmoor is hosting its annual Block Party Fundraiser from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, on the church grounds, Douglas Avenue at Flossmoor Road. Organizing chair Carlo Gozzi said the event will have something for all ages, including games for kids, an obstacle course, face painting, live entertainment and a variety of food options. The parish is also hosting a split-the-pot raffle. Food will be available from four food trucks. Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
